Mission
The mission of the Diabetes Eye Health and Macular Disease Service is to provide
patients with diagnostic and management options that are at the forefront of
eye care and to provide NSU health professions students with advanced clinical
training in diabetes eye care and special ophthalmic testing in a multidisciplinary
environment.
Available testing and services
Services include evaluations and management for:
- Patients with diabetes and other systemic diseases with potential ocular
complications.
- Macular diseases, including non-invasive evaluation of age-related macular
degeneration, epiretinal membranes, macular edema, and macular holes.
The following advanced diagnostic testing is available:
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Retinal Tomography (HRT)/Macular Edema analysis
- Digital Ocular Imaging
- Stereo Fundus Photography
- Ultrasonography
- Contrast Sensitivity
- Laser Interferometry
- Potential Acuity (PAM)
Referring Providers
The Diabetes Eye Health and Macular Disease Service will serve primarily
as an outreach to primary health care providers. The Service will also accept
referrals from the local ophthalmic community.
To make a referral, call 954-262-4206 and request an appointment
in the Diabetes Eye Health and Macular Disease Service. You may be asked to
fax a brief letter of referral and patient contact information.
